The Met Gala 2023 is fashion’s biggest night of the year, and it’s shaping up to be quite a night for pregnancy announcements, too. Serena Williams stunned in a Gucci gown and a big smile as she confirmed that she’s pregnant on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday. This will be her second child with husband Alexis Ohanian, joining Alexis Olympia Ohanian, who was born in September 2017.
“There’s three of us here,” Williams told Vogue on their livestream from the event.
“I’m good, I’m feeling good now,” she said. “I can breathe, I can stop–not hiding, but.”
On the red carpet, Ohanian, also dressed in Gucci, cradled Williams’ bump in a sweet gesture.
Earlier in the evening, Karlie Kloss used her red carpet moment to show off her own bump and confirm her pending addition as well. It's also Kloss's second child.
Williams, clad in a black and white Gucci gown, paid tribute to Karl Lagerfeld, the late designer whose work is honored in this year’s Costume Institute exhibit and gala.
“Karl never disappointed with his designs, so we’re both just so happy to be here and get inside and not drink,” she joked.
“I’ll be partaking,” Ohanian quickly clarified.
