Jamie Komoroski had history of traffic violations before killing bride in crash: report

Jamie Lee Komoroski, the 25-year-old alleged drunk driver who fatally struck a newlywed bride on her wedding night, has a history of traffic violations, according to a report.

Komoroski, currently under suicide watch while locked up at the Charleston County jail in South Carolina over Friday night’s wreck, has a history of speeding dating back to May 2018, according to records obtained by the Daily Mail.

In that first instance, she was cited for traveling less than 10 miles per hour over the speed limit in Horry County, South Carolina, where she attended college at Coastal Carolina University.

She pleaded guilty and paid a $76.50 fine, according to the Daily Mail.

In November 2018, Komoroski pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle at an unreasonable speed given icy road conditions.

She was again charged with speeding less than 10 miles per hour over the speed limit in 2019, and after pleading guilty, paid another $76.50.

And just last month on April 5 she pleaded guilty for failure to use a turn or stop signal and paid a $25 fine.

According to police, Komoroski was driving 65 miles per hour — more than twice the speed limit — when she slammed into the back of a golf cart carrying 34-year-old bride Samantha Hutchinson and groom Aric Hutchinson on Friday night as they were leaving their wedding reception in Folly Beach, South Carolina.

Hutchinson was declared dead at the scene, still wearing her wedding dress. Her husband and two other passengers were hospitalized.

The golf cart was found about 75 yards away from the collision.

Komoroski was uninjured.

Komoroski was charged with three felony DUIs resulting in great bodily injury or death and one count of reckless homicide after killing a bride and injuring a groom who had just left their wedding reception. She is facing up to 25 years in jail.

Komoroski, 25, plowed into Samantha Hutchinson’s golf cart, which had four people on it, while driving around 65 miles per hour, according to Folly Beach police.

Sam Hutchinson was declared dead at the scene by responding officers. Her new husband, Aric Hutchinson, was hospitalized with severe injuries.

Police said Komoroski’s blood-alcohol content was three times over the legal limit.

Komoroski reportedly smelled of alcohol but refused to take a sobriety test, according to police.

Aric filed a wrongful death suit against the alleged drunk driver and the bars that he says served her before the horrific incident.

Komoroski has been let out of jail and is under house arrest after being granted bail with strict conditions on Friday, as revealed by The Post.

A judge said she should be granted bail if Charleston County couldn’t bring the case to trial before March 1.

Komoroski was charged with three felony DUIs resulting in great bodily injury or death and one count of reckless homicide. She is being held without bail.

According to an affidavit, Komoroski smelled of alcohol and told first responders that she had had just one beer and one tequila shot about an hour before the accident. An officer had to help her stand and refused to take a field sobriety test.

A warrant was issued for two vials of her blood after she refused to provide a breath sample at the station. The blood test results are still pending.
