20. “Jim Henson’s Turkey Hollow” (2015)

What it is: A made-for-Lifetime Thanksgiving movie from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. When a divorced man (Jay Harrington) and his two kids (Graham Verchere, Genevieve Buechner) visit the remote town of Turkey Hollow, they encounter the legend of a mysterious creature known as the “Howling Hoodoo.”
Who it’s for: In lieu of (or perhaps in addition to?) a viewing of Lady Gaga’s 2013 Muppets musical special, “Jim Henson’s Turkey Hollow” is an easy-to-talk-over, family-friendly adventure for fans of festive puppetry. It’s narratively thin and doesn’t exactly break the mold on Thanksgiving morals. Still, there’s an undeniable charm to these feathery goofballs. —AF
