Set up an app in AdMob

The first step to making money in your app with AdMob is setting it up.  All new apps must undergo an app readiness review before they can fully serve ads.

There are two ways to set up an app:

• Published: Choose this option if you’ve tested your app and you believe it’s ready to serve ads. If your app is published in a store that AdMob supports and you link the app to the store in your AdMob account, your app will be automatically reviewed after you set it up in AdMob. Learn how to monitor the status of your review and your app’s ad serving. 
• Unpublished: Choose this option if you still need to test your app. You can also choose this option if your app is in a store that AdMob doesn’t support. Note that you'll need to come back to AdMob and link the app to a supported app store in order for your app to be marked as published and eligible for review. 

Set up a published app

1. Sign in to your AdMob account at https://admob.google.com.
2. Click Apps in the sidebar.
3. Click Add app.
4. Select the platform of your app (Android or iOS). 
5. Select Yes, it's listed on a supported app store.
6. Click Continue.

Set up an unpublished app

Choose this option if your app isn’t listed to an app store yet or if the app store where your app is listed isn’t supported by AdMob. Adding an unpublished app can be useful to set up and test your app before you release your app on an app store.

Note that apps listed in unsupported stores will receive limited ad serving until it’s listed in and linked to a store that AdMob supports. 

1. Sign in to your AdMob account at https://admob.google.com.
2. Click Apps in the sidebar.
3. Click Add app.
4. Select the platform of your app (iOS or Android). 
5. Select No.
6. Enter a name for your app.  We recommend you use the same app name that's used in the store the app is listed in. This information may be used for the app readiness review.
7. Confirm that you want to enable user metrics for this app.
8. Click Add.

Once you publish your app and list it in a store that AdMob supports, you'll need to come back to AdMob and link the app to its app store listing. 

Your app will receive limited ad serving until it’s approved during AdMob’s readiness process. In order for your app to be reviewed and approved by AdMob, you’ll need to list it in a store that AdMob supports and link your app to the app store in your AdMob account.
