Convert your classic Sites to new Sites

You can convert most classic Sites to new Sites. If you can’t convert your site, you can create a new site.

1. On a computer, open a classic Site. If you don’t own the site, contact the site owner.
2. In the top right, click Settings .
3. Click Manage site.
4. In the left menu, click Convert to new Sites. If this text doesn't appear, you can copy your content to new Sites.

A classic site is eligible for auto-migration to new sites if one owner of the classic site meets the following criteria. The owner:

• Must not have a disabled account.
• Isn't a Google group. The Google groups aren’t eligible to be the owner of new sites. Users who are part of a Google group aren’t eligible owners. Users individually added as owners of classic sites are eligible owners.
• Must be in the same domain as the classic site. Users outside the classic site domain aren’t eligible to be the owner of the new site.

When you convert a site, the new Sites content policies apply.

To be eligible to receive takeout of the classic site, the classic site owner must:

• Not be a Google group. Google groups that are owners aren’t eligible to receive takeout of the classic site.
• Be in the same domain as the Classic site. Users outside the classic site domain aren’t eligible to receive takeout of the classic site.

Tip: If you convert a classic site, the new site doesn’t include Apps Scripts created from within a classic site.

1. On your computer, go to classic Sites.
2. On the left panel, click Classic Sites Manager. 
3. On the right panel, click Conversion tool. Select one or more sites to convert. You can use filters to find the sites you need. 
4. Click Convert. 
5. To keep the same site permissions, check the box next to "Preserve sharing settings."
6. Click Convert.
   • It may take several minutes to convert large Sites.
   • After conversion, changes you make to your original Site won't transfer to the new one.
7. To review your Site, click Review draft.
   • Optional: If you plan to publish your new site to another address, click Advanced  Disconnect. 
8. To publish your site, at the top right, click Publish.
9. Enter a web address for your new site.
   • Optional: To change who can view your site, click Manage.
10. Click Publish.

2. In the top right corner, click Settings . 
3. Click Manage site.
4. In the left menu, click Convert to new Sites.
5. To keep the same site permissions, check the box next to "Share with the same people."
   • Important: By default, editors on the converted site can’t publish, change permissions, or add new people. To allow these options, owners can go to Share   Settings .
6. Click Start.
   • It may take several minutes to convert large sites.
   • After conversion, changes you make to your original site won't transfer to the new one.
7. Click Continue.
8. To review your site, click Review draft.
   • Optional: If you plan to publish your new site to another address, click Advanced Disconnect.
9. To publish your site, at the top right, click Publish.
10. Enter a web address for your new site.
    • Optional: To change who can view your site, click Manage.
11. Click Publish.

1. On your computer, open new Sites.
2. At the top, under "Start a new site," select a template.
3. On the right, click Pages.
4. Click Add .
5. Copy and paste content from your classic site to your new site.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 as necessary.
7. To publish your site, at the top right, click Publish.
8. Enter a web address for your new site.
   • Optional: To change who can view your site, click Manage.
9. Click Publish.

Tip: Add a link on your classic Site to send people to your new Site.
