Three positive COVID cases travelled to Molong near Orange

On Saturday's daily press briefing, she said: "The reason for our controls on further reducing the spread into regional NSW is that our surveillance testing picked up and had a number of near misses in terms of detecting people that were just about to become in contact with people in regional NSW.

"As an example, we had three of today's cases are people who travelled to Molong in the state's Central West on the 16th of July and what happened is we found the results of their testing and called them as they were just about to conclude some of their business.

"Unfortunately those people had also worked in the northern NSW on the 15th. It does highlight that all regional communities should be on alert."

In the 24 hours to 8pm last night, NSW had 111 cases of community transmission and at least 29 of those were infectious in the community.

One person in their 80s also died.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian praised the response in regional NSW.

"I want to emphasise that all the settings in regional NSW remain the same, thank you to regional NSW for the work you've done," she said.

"You will not be having any additional restrictions places on you, but please note, please keep up the good work, please keep doing what you're doing to make sure you comply with the rules in place.

"This is a time for all of us to come together."

No venues of concern have been identified in Molong, and contacts of the cases are being tested while in isolation.

One venue in Orange, however, has been identified.

In a text message sent to tenants of Peter Fisher Real Estate, Orange on Friday it says removalists from a COVID hot spot attended storage sheds on Strathgrove Way on July 16 and have since tested positive to the virus. The agency notified its tenants of the case immediately.

A COVID testing clinic has been set up in Molong at the Molong Railway Station. It will be open from 8am-4pm, on Saturday, July 17 to Monday, July 19.
