Not surprised the Packers take one of the top C in this draft, but expected it would be Humphrey (who went right after the Packers took Meyers). Solid pick. Starter from day 1. Either means they expect Bakhtiari to make a quick comeback, or they like Jenkins on the perimeter.

Like Linsley, Myers comes out of Ohio State. Hopefully that is a sign of more good things to come for the Packer at Center. Playing at Ohio State he will be familiar with the big stage and big games. I would have expected the Packers to take a Center in the 4th round or later but here we are.

One scout had him rated between Asante Samuel and Dylan Moses. A second round seems high, but teams are getting to that place where a lot of unknowns will be showing up. Maybe not unknows but unexpected picks.
He will probably start right away.

Looks like dobber was right....sounds like a heck of a player. I sincerely hope this means they think Jenkins is the answer outside and we don't need to draft any more OL until much, much later. All of my personal favorites were taken at other positions earlier in the second round, so I'll be a good sport and get on board with Josh. On to the DL next--please!!

was on the phone with sailor son in Japan. I called the position and wanted Humphrey bad......IMHO, GB chose the wrong guy. I think they were brilliant picking Linsley where they did and he really played better & better from day 1. Unless Ohio St has the same Oline coach who can speak for Meyers comparing him favorably to a previous athlete (i.e. CL), GB has the right position, wrong player. Everyone saw KC snap up Humphrey!
We shall see. I'm very impressed GB apparently didn't have to move up in round 2 to get one of the players they were targeting.

Last, i noted there hasn't been a QB taken yet in rnd 2. We spoke of GB picking the Stanford QB to compete with Love, which would mean all these bogus rumors are on the trade of AR to Denver may have some real validity. We laughed, but any speak of AR moving from Lambeau isn't funny at all.

2 wideouts that have been associated with Green Bay...Marquez Stevenson from Houston. Smaller but terrific start/stop ability. Probably 4th round 2nd is Michael Strachan who is 6-5, 215 Lbs. and runs like the wind. Both will need coaching on route running.

Solid pick. He'll start day 1. I wasn't a fan of moving Jenkins to center. Why is it when a team doesn't pick a player based on Todd McShay's board it's a reach? I trust the Packers over the mock draft gurus. For whatever reason they had Meyers ranked higher than Humphrey. That's good enough for me. The last center out of OSU turned out ok.

There is a pretty good interview w/ Myers on his Grandad and how close they were. Seems like a solid decent person and his film shows him doing his pass and run blocking well. I'm not pointing fingers about any other players in the draft but kid seems very likable. Carries a piece of his Grandads jersey from College in his sock. Game means a lot to him. Solid pick and excellent character player. Let's not forget with ML scheme, him and Gute are transitioning the OL into his vision of what he wants it to be and along with Jenkins, it is moving that way.

Humphreys was the pick .

Completed a high percentage of his snaps to the quarterback, and had a knack for getting in the way of defenders.

Seriously, folks, it seems good that so far the Packers have picked two quality guys at positions of need, with little injury history and a lot of experience against top competition.
Both these guys may have a few rough edges, but should be refined enough by this fall to contribute significantly to the Packers as rookies. There's a good possibility both will be at least solid starters for a long time, and maybe offer even more. Wasn't this past year Linsley's first as a pro-bowler?
I would think most Packers fans here at CHTV would be very happy right now with Stokes and Meyers.

Don't you mean "Heir presumptive"? In this case, if there is someone more qualified than him (Jenkins or Patrick or X), that someone would get the job, otherwise it is his.

Heir apparant means the job is his, no 2 ways about it.

I'll never complain about adding OL help. They were awesome along the line last year and it showed in the overall offensive numbers. With 9-10 on the roster, you need to add at least one every single draft to maintain that, IMO.

The Packers don't have to hand a starting spot to Myers but there certainly is one there for the taking if he's worth the pick.

Sometimes scouts and media evaluators see players through a certain scheme and as we have become aware since moving to a nontraditional 12 personnel/ run scheme guys like AJ Dillon and JD are going to be better for that than for more conventional schemes. Same with the WR.

Possibly the case with meyer as well. IDK but it is a variable to be considered when we evaluate as fans.

Even for the "quick" slor wr. he still better be able to block and those smaller guys are going to have trouble. Amari is short but very stout for a slot/gadget guy.
