Full volleyball schedule for Monday, July 26th in the Tokyo 2021 Summer Olympics

We take a look at the full volleyball schedule for Monday, July 26th at the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics.

Fencer Sofya Velikaya and volleyball player Maxim Mikhailov of the ROC Team carry a ROC flag during the Parade of Nations at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games at the National Stadium. Tokyo was to host the 2020 Summer Olympics from 24 July to 9 August 2020, however because of the COVID-19 pandemic the games have been postponed for a year and are due to take place from 23 July to 8 August 2021. One of the more anticipated matches of Olympic volleyball pool play is this morning, as the USA men take on the ROC team led by four-time Olympian Maxim Mikhailov.

Mikhailov is such a legend in Russia he was the flag bearer for ROC at the Opening Ceremonies. He’s got a gold and a bronze for Russia already, and although he’s not the terrifying right side he once was, he was still the MVP of the Volleyball Nations League as recently as three years ago.

The USA is a -175 favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook, and are +600 to win their first gold medal since 2008 in Beijing.

On the women’s side, the USA already knocked off Argentina, and will get China tomorrow evening. While they may struggle to terminate balls out of system more than a few teams in this tournament, Kirch Kiraly’s roster can still pass and play at the net with anyone in the world.
