Virtual tour of Mysore palace during meet upVirtual tour of Mysore palace during meet up

Good day, Local Guides,

We all are aware of difficulties regarding online teaching, but it's sometimes hard to define what you want to educate others. But not in the case when I am taking classes for differently Abled students.

In This pandemic, technology plays the most important role in the education system. I am teaching primary students and my subject is a computer so I did not find more difficulties but others are upgrading themselves and it was quite challenging.

During the lockdown, I started one social activity for specially-abled and blind schools every week. And my schedule during the online class for blind and specially-abled students is as below.

  • Teach them with a presentation on how to use Google Maps for directions using Accessibility features of Google Maps?
  • A small presentation about general knowledge (ex. colors, fruits, flowers, types of animals, etc.)
  • One virtual tour of famous historical places of India on google maps and during this virtual tour I show them 360-degree photos on maps video on the map and photos uploaded by a local guide (till today we finish the virtual tour of Statue of Unity, Taj Mahal, Girnar, Pavagadh, and few local places of my town.
  • To make the session interactive after my presentation and virtual tour I ask the questions to all students regarding places and presentation.

All AttendeesAll Attendees

I am very happy to share with you all this recap because my Co-host was @KashifMisidia Bhai. He is always there in my accessibility meet up and giving guidance which is required for improvement.

So this time we decided to host a meet-up together and it was really fun and everyone enjoyed it a lot.

Thank you Kashif Bhai for giving me this owner.

We started this meet-up at 4’0 clock sharp and this time our topic was community helpers and a virtual tour of Mysore Palace. I started my presentation and explained the role of community builders like carpenter, traffic police, doctor, teacher,  in our day-to-day life. Kashif Bhai explain the  role of google maps as community builders he covers the topic below

*What is Google Maps?

*How to use it?

*What is the role of a local guide?

* How to contribute to Google Maps?

* How a person with different abilities can use Google Maps Accessibility features?

The principal of the school appreciated our concept and requested to continue the same after the school reopens because students and parents are very happy with the visual teaching and also happy for a visual tour.
