Everything Coming To ‘Call Of Duty: Warzone’ In Season 2

This article is more than 3 years old.

Season 2 of Warzone and Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is almost upon us, with a second big update landing tonight before the next season kicks off.

This will undoubtedly be a very large update, so make sure to have your systems on and enough free space to handle a large download and install.

Warzone is getting some new modes and a couple big map changes, but if leaks and rumors are to be believed, the changes to the battle royale game could be even bigger than what Activision has let on.

For now, though, we’ll look at what we know for sure is coming to Warzone after tonight’s update.

Map Changes

A large cargo container is the big new POI in Verdansk. The ship, Vodianoy, has apparently gone missing at sea, last seen off the coast of Rebirth Island. Now players can find it just off the coast near Port. The ship is carrying “unknown cargo” that is apparently dangerous. Zombies perhaps? Or a nuke?

Activision is also teasing other changes, including the fact that “something major is beginning to rumble deep underground.” All of this suggests an explosion of some sort—and the possible end of Verdansk and beginning of an entirely new map.

Other new locations and changes remain “classified.” We’ll know more tomorrow.

New Modes

Two new modes are coming to Warzone in Season 2, though more could be announced later.

New Game Mode: Exfiltration (In Season)

In “Exfiltration” players—in solo or team-based modes—have to secure a radio and then hold onto it until the countdown timer reaches zero. Holding onto the radio for long enough results in a win—you don’t have to kill all the other players on the map.

However, to make matters a bit more difficult, anyone holding the radio is marked on the map just like a Most Wanted Contract/High Value Target. Everyone hunting you can see how long the timer has left on it.

Circles continue to close and you can still win the match by being the last player/team standing if nobody manages to secure the radio long enough for an exfil.

New Game Mode: Rebirth Island Resurgence Extreme (Launch Week)

“Resurgence” is one of my favorite battle royale modes in Warzone and really in any battle royale game. It’s fast and frantic and it’s fun to be able to respawn if your squad isn’t wiped. Normally this small-map mode only has around 40 players but in “Extreme” this is bumped to up to 90 players. This is going to be sheer chaotic madness from start to finish. I’m not sure if I should be excited or filled with dread.

Maybe both.
