As Premier Doug Ford begged Ontario residents over the age of 60 to book their COVID-19 vaccination on Wednesday afternoon, Durham residents were left asking why they couldn’t book an appointment.

Although the province announced on April 6 that vaccine bookings would be expanded to people aged 60 and older on April 7, the option was not available in Durham Region where the health department only allowed booking of people 65 and older. More questions followed as the province announced large swaths of Ajax and Pickering are hot-spot communities and the premier announced a new list of people eligible for vaccines including people aged 18 and older in hot-spot postal codes.
