DONE DEAL! Cameron Carter-Vickers joins Celtic on season-long loan

He’s gonna be here forever.

Another late move for Tottenham Hotspur, who clearly decided to leave everything until after the window closed just to irritate me and screw up my dinner plans. Cam is officially heading out on loan for the entire season, this time to Celtic.

How can Spurs do this nearly an hour after the transfer window closes? Because apparently the SCOTTISH window didn’t close until midnight UK time, giving Tottenham an extra hour to get things done.

I confess, I didn’t see quite how a loan was going to work out considering Carter-Vickers’ contract supposedly expired next summer. However, Alasdair Gold figured it out — apparently Spurs actually extended his contract but didn’t trigger the one year extension clause that was still there. It’s weird, I’ll let him explain it.

This is, by my count, Cam’s seventh career loan, and he’s still somehow only 23 years old. It sure seems like he’s going to be at the club forever, doesn’t it? I swear, if he stays at Spurs much longer, the club’s going to owe him a testimonial.

Good luck to Cam, and I hope he enjoys his time at Celtic where he’ll link back up with his former teammate Joe Hart. I’m sure those two will commiserate over their Spurs situations over a bottle of Irn-Bru.
