The 28th SAG Awards mark the first major awards show ahead of next month’s Oscars, offering important tea leaves about which performances could win gold. This year’s ceremony will also be in-person, following a completely virtual event in 2021. Voted on by the SAG-AFTRA guild, nominations for the SAG Awards honor work across film and television. Belfast, CODA, Don’t Look Up, House of Gucci, and King Richard are all vying for outstanding cast in a motion picture. Honors will also be presented to the best ensembles in comedy, drama, and limited series.

Vanity Fair has made its own SAG Award 2022 predictions, placing bets on key match-ups including Nicole Kidman v. Lady Gaga in best actress and Squid Game v. Succession for outstanding cast in a drama series. Here’s what you need to know about watching the 2022 SAG Awards, from how to stream the red carpet coverage to who will be opening the show.

When are the SAG Awards?

The 2022 SAGs take place on Sunday, February 27 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, live from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. Nominees may also appear virtually, due to pandemic safety protocols.

How can I watch the SAG Awards?

The SAG Awards will air live on TBS and TNT, as well as streaming on those network’s websites. If you don’t have a cable login, some providers offer free trial options including Hulu Live TV, YouTube TV, FuboTV, and Sling. For the first year ever, the SAG Awards will be available to stream the following day on HBO Max.

Will there be a SAG Awards red carpet?

The Live From E! Red Carpet coverage begins at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT. It can also be streamed on @enews Twitter, E! Online and the E! News app.

Who has the most SAG nominations?

SAG Award nominations were announced on January 12, with The Power of the Dog and House of Gucci tying for the year’s most-nominated film with three nods apiece. The buzzy third season of Succession leads the drama series nominations, while Ted Lasso’s sophomore effort tops comedy with six nods total for each show.

What else can we expect at the SAGs?

Unlike the 2022 Oscars, this year’s SAG Awards will go hostless. However, Hamilton trio Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr. and Daveed Diggs will kick off the evening, likely with their own musical moment or “I’m an Actor” intro. Later in the telecast, Kate Winslet will present the SAG Life Achievement Award to five-time winner Helen Mirren

As for the show’s most competitive categories, VF is predicting a potential close call between CODA, the smallest film of the bunch and Don’t Look Up, the category’s starriest, for outstanding cast in a motion picture. Meanwhile, Squid Game could make history as the first non-English-language series and first Korean series to win a SAG Award. But first, it’ll have to topple fellow heavyweights like Succession and Yellowstone. As for the lead acting categories? Nicole Kidman’s predicted win for Being the Ricardos could be toppled by Lady Gaga (House of Gucci). And Will Smith (King Richard) should keep an eye on Benedict Cumberbatch (The Power of the Dog) in lead actor.
