After acquiring him at the trade deadline this season, the Toronto Raptors won’t be letting Gary Trent Jr. slip through their grasp as a restricted free agent. The Raptors are making the first and final offer to the 22-year-old gunner, reported to be three years, $54 million with a player option in the third year.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has it first.

Trent Jr. was acquired alongside Rodney Hood in the Norman Powell trade, meant to grab resources for the outgoing unrestricted free agent, who is rumoured to be staying in Portland.

The Duke product saw his productivity bump up with the Raptors in 2020-21 — averaging 16.2 points in 17 games, shooting 35.5 percent on 7.3 three point attempts per outing.

More analysis on this deal to come.
