We’d bet on the fact that Rachel Zegler is whistling while she works today. The actor, who won’t make her big-screen debut until Steven Speilberg’s remake of West Side Story hits theatres late in 2021, has already landed her next big (read: massive) role. Zegler will play Snow White in the live-action adaptation of the 1937 animated Disney original.

“Hello to a dream come true,” wrote the actor in an Instagram post announcing the news.

Call it manifestation or call it hard work, either way, the talented singer and actor has a history with Disney princesses. Behold, Exhibits A and B:

Her high school musical career also involved playing two other royal icons on stage: Beauty and The Beast’s Belle and The Little Mermaid’s Ariel. Peruse the evidence below at your leisure.

Zegler, whose mother is Colombian, also has fans from that community piping up on her behalf.

It’s almost as though Zegler is a master vision board maker. When, at 16, she sent her West Side Story audition to Spielberg, she’d already played the lead role of Maria in a community theatre production. And while she has no previous superhero experience (that we know of) she’s also landed a spot in Shazam! Fury of the Gods alongside A-listers like Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu.

For Snow White, Zegler will work with Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb.

“Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts,” said the filmmaker in a statement about the casting. “Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale.” That, plus a trending topic on Twitter.
