Ethan Bear has been traded to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Before we get to the return, I’ve got serious issues with the right side right now. Bear being dealt for an albeit, good bottom six option leaves the right side open wide open. Barrie and Bouchard are the only two NHL options on the right side that don’t involve Kris Russell. There’s likely another move coming there, so hold on to your socks.

Ethan Bear was traded to Carolina for Warren Foegele, who is a pretty good player for his role. Foegele is a 25 year old winger who will probably do best on Edmonton’s third line. Foegele spent most of his time with Jordan Staal and Jordna Martinook this year. In 53 games, he put up 20 points (10-10-20). Foegele gets a lot of chances in front of the net, which is encouraging. He’s never had flashy point totals, and that trend is likely to continue if he’s on the third line. He’s a 6’2” 200 lb winger that’s not afraid to get his hands dirty, and that will play well in Edmonton.

He’s currently an RFA that’s due a new deal, he was a 2.15MM cap hit in 2021.

Foegele will be a productive player in Edmonton, it’s just a damn shame it cost Ethan Bear to get him.
