In Short

  • Mohammad Haris will be playing in place of Mohammad Rizwan in 6th T20I
  • Mohammad Haris made his ODI debut earlier this year
  • Pakistan are leading the 7-match series 3-2

21-year-old Mohammad Haris said that he would want to perform like ICC’s No.1 T20I batter Mohammad Rizwan in the sixth T20I against England on Friday, September 30 at National Stadium in Karachi.

Haris has replaced Rizwan with the seven-match series currently at 3-2 in favour of the Men in Green. Rizwan is currently in jaw-dropping as he is the leading run-scorer of the series, having also become the joint-fastest batter to score 2000 T20I runs.

The 30-year-old Rizwan has also scored five half-centuries in his last six T20Is. As far as Haris is concerned, he admitted that playing against England in front of his home crowd won’t be easy, but he doesn’t want pressure to get the better of him.

“I am very excited. I have already made my ODI debut and now it’s my turn for T20Is. The series is a chance to enhance my skills because of the excitement in the series. I’m also excited to play against England, one of the best sides in the world,” Haris was quoted as saying in a video, uploaded on the official Twitter handle of Pakistan Cricket.

“I am getting a chance to play in place of the World No.1 batter and I will try to perform like him,” he stated.

“It’s a pressure situation playing against England and making a debut in front of home ground. T20I is a different format where a match changes in an over. But I am not taking any pressure. The way my teammates have supported me, I will look to perform well,” Haris added.

Earlier this year, Haris made his ODI debut and scored only 10 runs from three innings. He also took four catches and effected two stumpings. Moreover, he has played for Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
