Turn on and manage Super Thanks

Super Thanks (formerly known as Viewer applause) lets creators earn revenue and connect with viewers who want to show extra gratitude for their content.

Viewers can buy a fun animation called Super Thanks on a long-form video or Short. The one-time animation is only shown to the buyer over the top of the long-form video or Short. As an added bonus, buyers also get to post a distinct, colorful, and customizable comment in the comments section. Super Thanks is available at different price points for viewers to choose from.

Turn Super Thanks on or off for your channel

Turn on Super Thanks

To earn revenue from Super Thanks, you (and your MCN) must first accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM). For more info on the CPM, view our YouTube Commerce Products monetization policies.

If you want to use a computer to turn on Super Thanks:

On a computer, sign in to YouTube Studio.
In the left menu, click Earn .
Click the Supers tab. This tab will only surface if your channel is eligible.
Click Get started and follow the on-screen instructions.
If it’s your first time in the Supers section, follow the on-screen instructions to sign the Commerce Product Module (CPM).
Once you’ve completed all the instructions, “Super Thanks” will surface next to a switch you can turn on or off.

Super Thanks will surface on all eligible previous and future Shorts and long-form videos.

If you want to use your mobile device to turn on Super Thanks:

Open the YouTube Studio mobile app .
At the bottom of the screen, tap Earn .
Tap the Supers card. If a Supers card doesn’t surface, tap Get started in the “Supers” section Turn on.
If it’s your first time in the Supers section, follow the on-screen instructions to sign the Commerce Product Module (CPM).
Once you’ve completed all the instructions, all Supers products will surface on your eligible:
- Live streams and Premieres (Super Chat and Super Stickers)
- Long form videos and Shorts (Super Thanks)

Note:

If a third party administers your rights, check with them before turning on Super Thanks.
If you want to turn off certain Supers, you can use a computer to sign in to YouTube Studio. Go to the Supers tab to turn off the relevant Supers.

Turn off Super Thanks

On a computer, sign in to YouTube Studio.
In the left menu, select Earn .
Click the Supers tab.
Turn off the switch next to “Super Thanks.”
In the pop-up, select the checkbox next to “I understand the implications of this action.”
Click Turn off.

When you turn off the switch, the Super Thanks feature will be removed from all of your Shorts and long form videos. You can still review historical earnings.
