Brentford vs Tottenham delayed due to water supply issues at Gtech Community Stadium

Brentford’s opening match of the new Premier League season against Tottenham was delayed due to sanitation problems at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Sunday’s London derby was due to kick-off at 2pm BST, but was subject to a short delay that lasted eight minutes due to no running water coming into the ground in a public health issue.

“Please be aware that we are currently dealing with an issue in relation to the water supply into the stadium which is affecting all related facilities,” Brentford tweeted. “We will provide a further update in due course.”

The game was able to get underway without significant disruption following that short delay, with Sky Sports later reporting that the problem had been resolved and that water was once again flowing into the stadium.

The issue came just 24 hours after Arsenal’s 2023/24 home curtain-raiser against Nottingham Forest, a Saturday lunchtime contest, was delayed by 30 minutes due to chaos with the club’s new e-ticketing system at the Emirates Stadium that left thousands of fans stuck outside.
