Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield Seeks Information on Mishandling of $12 Million
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield may soon resolve the question surrounding the starter at his position. The team can find its answer during the second preseason game, and Mayfield could use the matchup as an opportunity to boldly claim the starting position.
Off the field, however, still has a battle for Mayfield to take care of. He and his wife Emily are dealing with a potential $12 million mishandled by an investment firm in Austin, Texas, and there are potentially family members involved with the issue, according to KXAN.com
The idea of a starting quarterback dealing with off-field, family issues isn't foreign to the Buccaneers. Tom Brady's farewell tour wasn't exactly glamorous, as he was dealing with personal matters himself.

As the legal filing reads: “Petitioners simply do not know if their money has been properly and competently invested, has been stolen or otherwise misappropriated, or something in between.”
The Mayfields are searching for an answer to their situation that could cost them $12 million, which is no small amount of money. So far through the course of his career, Mayfield has earned $48,406,674 from the NFL. He's set to make an additional $4 million with the Buccaneers in the upcoming season.
Additionally, Mayfield has made money through endorsements and other off-field endeavors, and those number amounts aren't publicly known. He's been a commercial star throughout his career.
Evidently, Mayfield invested a large sum of money in what he had hoped to be a promising, profitable investment. It's unfortunate that not only things went south, but family members were involved.
For the Buccaneers, a quick resolution to this issue would be ideal so Mayfield can put 100 percent of his focus into the team and earning the starting quarterback position. This will be Mayfield's sixth season, and the former No. 1 overall pick is looking to reboot his career.
