NBA Admits Missed Call in Warriors vs. Kings Game
The Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings played a wild game on Tuesday night. With Golden State needing to win by 12 or more points to advance in the In-Season Tournament, they looked well on their way to accomplishing that, but blew a 24-point lead to not only lose their chance at advancing, but lose the game entirely.
The NBA has released their Last Two Minute Report for this game, and it includes a pretty big missed call with 1:52 remaining in the game. As Kevon Looney missed a free throw, the NBA admits that Andrew Wiggins was fouled on the rebound attempt by Sasha Vezenkov. The Kings secured the rebound and scored on the other end after De'Aaron Fox was fouled.
This was the only meaningful missed call on the Last Two Minute Report, as the only other incorrect ruling was when Andrew Wiggins was whistled for a foul that actually should have been called on Looney.
There was a controversial no-call on the final play of this game, when Steph Curry missed the game-winning three, as there was clear contact on the shot attempt. That said, the NBA reviewed this play and deemed the contact to be marginal, stating, "Vezenkov (SAC) closes out in front of Curry (GSW) and marginal lower body contact occurs after the release as both players return to the floor."
While Golden State had some things not go their way down the stretch of this one, they certainly could have done a much better job of protecting their big lead.
