Adult film star Stormy Daniels and Donald Trump's indictment.. What's the connection between the two?
Recently, the New York City District Attorney Alvin Bragg convened a grand jury to examine whether there was enough proof to seek a case against the former president over the money given to Stormy Daniels. According to reports, the jurors decided to file criminal charges against Donald Trump, making him the first former US president to face them. It is unclear what accusations will be filed.
Trump labeled the probe a political witch-hunt by a "corrupt, depraved, and weaponized justice system" on his social media network, Truth Social.
According to Daniels, whose official name is Stephanie Gregory Clifford, grew up in Louisiana with a neglectful mother. Her hobby was playing around horses. But, beginning in high school, she sustained herself monetarily by working in strip clubs. Stormy stated that at the time, she was just attempting to survive. She began with strip-teasing, then the adult film industry, where she became a renowned actress, director and screenwriter, winning multiple awards. Later, she met Donald Trump at a celebrity golf event in Lake Tahoe, California, where she was recruited to welcome competitors between tees. Daniels was 27 years old at the time, while Trump was 60. She claims Trump invited her to dinner through a bodyguard, that they later had intercourse in his hotel room despite his marriage to eventual first lady Melania Trump, and that they remained in contact for a while.
Donald Trump approached her about appearing on his television program, The Apprentice. However, as Trump campaigned for president in 2016, his connection with Daniels changed dramatically. Daniels was making a deal to go on television during the presidential campaign and blurt out the alleged sexual relationship with Trump when she received a $130,000 payment to keep quiet, according to prosecutors. The payment was made by Trump's former counsel, Micahel Cohen. She declared clearly on CBS's 60 Minutes that she wanted to clear the air: "I'm not a victim." Even though she wasn't drawn to him that night in Lake Tahoe, she claimed their connection was mutual.
While Daniels tweeted her victory on Twitter, her lawyers gave a more formal statement, "The indictment of Donald Trump is no cause for joy. The hard work and conscientiousness of the grand jurors must be respected. Now let truth and justice prevail”
