It's here, it's finally here: AEW x NJPW's Forbidden Door has officially arrived. Soon, fans will trickle into the United Center, the lights will dim then rise, and nine matches – plus four more on the pre-show – will take place with hundreds of thousands of fans watching in utter disbelief that Tony Khan was able to pull this off.

Will there be surprises? Yup; at least one match features a mystery entrant and there will certainly be more than a few more surprises throughout the day too. How about botches? Hopefully not many but hey, it is a live performance after all; these things tend to happen. And what about five-star matches? Will fans witness a few 5-star matches for their hard-earned money? Well, considering the sheer volume of talent on the card, that feels like a virtual guarantee.

Goodness gracious, this has the potential to be one of the fun-est nights of professional wrestling of the summer, but hey, you don't have to wait for 8 pm EST – or 7 pm for the preshow – for the fun to begin – no, all you have to do is read on to learn about (at least) one fun fact about all nine matches on the card.

A fun fact about every match on AEW's Forbidden Door.

9. Eddie Kingston has wrestled Minoru Suzuki before

While Chris Jericho and Minoru Suzuki have never shared the ring together in their 65 combined years of in-ring action, that isn't the case for Eddie Kingston, as he's actually gone to war with the leader of Suzuki-Gun twice on NJPW Strong in tag team matches that also featured Jon Moxley and Lance Archer. Considering both of those matches were hard-hitting, strongstyle affairs, the trios match between Shota Umino, Wheeler Yuta, and Eddie Kingston versus Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, and Minoru Suzuki should be a wonderful bout indeed.

8. The Dudes With Attitude are 30 years in the making

Does the name Dudes with Attitudes sound familiar to you? Well, if you're a fan of WCW it just might, as it was also the name of a short-lived faction featuring the likes of Sting, Lex Lugar, and the Steiner Brothers back in 1990. While there's no knowing if the duo of Sting and Darby Allin will continue to go by the moniker, or if this will be their first and final time using the name in a trios match with Shingo Takagi opposite The Bullet Club – The Young Bucks plus El Phantasmo – bringing back the obscure faction is an interesting addition to Forbidden Door.

7. Clark Connors has never held a championship belt

A last-minute addition to the match following Tomohiro Ishii‘s injury-related absence from Forbidden Door, Clark Connors has a chance to earn his first-ever championship gold when he wrestles against Miro, PAC, and Malakai Black, who have a combined 44 combined belts to their names. Now granted, that might be easier said than done, as PAC, Miro, and Black are all very skilled performers, but it will be nice to see Connors on a massive stage, as the fifth-year pro deserves more recognition.

6. NJPW doesn't have a women's division

Are you an AEW fan who wondered why the match for the AEW Women's Championship Match is between two members of Tony Khan's promotion instead of Thunder Rosa versus the best female performer NJPW has to offer? Well, that would be because NJPW doesn't have a women's division. If you want to watch premier women's wrestling from Japan, you instead have to watch Stardom, who is effectively NJPW's sister promotion.

5. Orange Cassidy has wrestled in Japan

Though he's never wrestled in Japan under the Orange Cassidy moniker, the man behind the shades wrestled 10 matches across Japan, plus four more in China as a member of The Colony, when he was wrestling as Fire Ant. After teasing a slight changeup to his entrance, maybe OC will bring that look back at Forbidden Door, or at least bring out the Orange Juice bottle he'd use on the indies when “Jane” by Jefferson Starship was his entrance music.

4. FTR could make tag team history at Forbidden Door

As you may already know if you read this story, if FTR wins their trios match at Forbidden Door, they will become the first tag team in history to have held the WWE, ROH, AAA, and IWGP Tag Team Championship belts in their career. That's pretty incredible stuff for the Top Guys.

3. Zack Sabre Jr. has wrestled Bryan Danielson before

While it's a bummer fans won't get to see Zack Sabre Jr. wrestle Bryan Danielson in the best technical bout of the year, the prospects of seeing the duo duel it out won't have to remain a “What If” forever, and they've actually wrestled before on two separate occasions, first in a best two out of three falls match at Wrestling In Coventry in 2008 won by BD and at WwXw 16 Carat Gold in 2019, when ZSJ got the win. With any luck, fans will get to see who wins the rubber match without having to wait another decade.

2. Jay White has never won a match featuring Adam Cole

Jay White has wrestled in two matches that featured Adam Cole and has a 0-2 record in the bouts; dropping a solos match in ROH in April of 2017 and losing an eight-man tag to the Bullet Club while teaming up with Lio Rush and the Motor City Machine Guns two months earlier. While White is a very different performer in 2022 than in 2017, as he went from wrestling the Bullet Club to leading it, that history can be hard to overcome, even for the “Catalyst of Professional Wrestling.”

1. Hiroshi Tanahashi has never won an American championship

If Hiroshi Tanahashi beats Jon Moxley in a battle for the AEW Interim World Championship, it will mark his first-ever run as a champion for an American promotion, as he didn't win gold during his time in TNA or Ring of Honor. While there's no knowing if Gedo and company want to loan out “The Japanese Bret Hart” to Tony Khan until CM Punk is ready to wrestle once more, adding American gold to his resume would move him up a few spots in the all-time wrestling rankings, which is hard to do considering just how prolific the “Ace of NJPW” has been in his home promotion.
