Man United XI vs Rayo Vallecano: Starting lineup, latest team news as Cristiano Ronaldo starts in friendly

Manchester United today hand Cristiano Ronaldo his first minutes of pre-season in a pre-season friendly against Rayo Vallecano.

Ronaldo remains keen to leave the club this summer and has stayed away for the entire of new manager Erik ten Hag's first weeks as he tried to engineer a move to no avail. Now, he must play in front of home support for the first time since the end of last season.

The Portuguese was not included in the squad which lost 1-0 to Atletico Madrid on Saturday but starts as the second-string team at Old Trafford this afternoon.

Raphael Varane captains the side and sits alongside debutant Lisandro Martinez in defence. Elsewjhere, Christian Eriksen once again plays after his appearance against Atletico Madrid, while Donny van de Beek is handed a rare chance to impress.
