Even if you’ve never seen a Fast and Furious movie, you know from memes alone the series has a running theme of “family.” An obvious strategy for a villain would be to go after that family. Thus we have Fast X, the tenth flick in a franchise spanning two decades, in which Aquaman vows to destroy Dom’s life.
Jason Momoa plays Dante, son of a villain that Dom’s street team defeated five movies ago. For taking away his dad, Dante is going to take away his son! His gang kidnaps the kid, setting a series of events in motion that naturally involves a lot of high-speed chases and explosions. But it also involves Letty waking up on a lab table next to Charlize Theron’s character Cipher, who both immediately get up and begin karate kicking each other.
Fast X stars most of the regular cast who isn’t dead, including Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang and Scott Eastwood. In addition to Momoa, Brie Larson is also here, playing a baddie by the name of Tess (she can put all her driving skills from her Nissan ads to the test now). The cast will be rounded out by Michael Rooker, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson and Rita Moreno.
And if you’re screaming “EEEEEEENNND” like Tom Servo, you can take solace in the fact that Diesel is promising the film that comes after Fast X will be the very last one in the series. We’re skeptical Fast & Furious will EVER truly end, though — not as long as there’s money in it. More likely Universal will just smash the “reboot” or “spinoff” button at that point. Fast and Furious will outlive us all.
