Everyone—especially Ree Drummond—remembers that schoolyard scene from Grease: Danny on the bleachers with his boys, Sandy at a lunch table with the pink Ladies, the two singing a split duet about their "Summer Nights" together. So our hearts begin reeling with nostalgia the moment those first bars of music start playing on John Travolta's new Super Bowl commercial.
In an homage to his late costar, John reprises his role as Danny with a sweet recreation of their iconic "Summer Nights" scene for T-Mobile. Don't worry, though—he isn't alone! Scrubs stars Zach Braff and Donald Faison jump in to help him with funny new lyrics and classic old dance moves.
John opens with, "Home internet, what a pain in the—"
"Hey neighbor!" sings Faison, popping onto the screen. 😂
The trio trumpet T-Mobile's home internet services with the signature "tell me more, tell me more" lyrical routine.
Olivia Newton-John, the Sandy to his Danny, passed away six months ago after a long battle with breast cancer. While John mourned, he shared a sweet Instagram post honoring her and the iconic '70s movie that led to their deep years-long friendship.
"My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!" he wrote on Instagram.
Keep an eye out for John's tribute to his dear friend and this all-time favorite movie when you're watching the Super Bowl this Sunday!
