Jim Carrey is ready for a fresh start, putting his home of 30 years on the market.

The comedian recently listed his Los Angeles home for $28.9 million after he originally purchased the property for $3.8 million in 1994, which would be equivalent to $7.71 million today. Carrey told the Wall Street Journal, who first reported the news, that the home has been “a place of enchantment and inspiration” to him over “30 very creative and prosperous years.” He continued, “Every night the owls sang me lullabies and every morning I sipped my cup of joe with the hawks and hummingbirds, under a giant grandfather pine.” And in another statement about why he's decided to sell the house after all these years, he explained, “For three decades it’s been a sanctuary for me but I don’t spend a lot of time there now and I want someone else to enjoy it like I have,” adding, “Cha cha cha cha … Changes!” in reference to the David Bowie song.

The roughly 12,700-square-foot, one-story, ranch-style estate, purchased right before the release of the actor's first big hit movie Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, boasts a five-bedroom, nine-bathroom main house with a traditional brick facade and contemporary interiors, according to listing agent Janelle Friedman of Sotheby’s International Realty. The primary living room in the main house has high pitched, beamed ceilings with skylights, and fireplaces throughout the living, dining, and family rooms. The chef's kitchen features bar seating and a breakfast room with views of the pear trees outside. And the primary bedroom also has its own fireplace, as well as a sitting area and a covered balcony to look out over the property. French doors throughout the home also open out onto a large courtyard patio allowing lots of natural light in. Outside, the home is surrounded by two acres of land with amenities such as a gym, a tennis court, a dedicated outdoor yoga space and meditation platform, a waterfall pool, spa, and a pool house that contains a sauna and steam room.

The mansion's custom Art Deco-style home theater with mohair-covered sofas, burl wood columns, and a snack area currently contains some special pieces from throughout Carrey's high-profile career, including his blue overalls from his performance in The Cable Guy and the Santa Claus costume from The Grinch. The theater's adjacent bar also has on display the actor's Riddler costume from Batman Forever and a few of his trophies from the MTV Movie & TV Awards. The walls of the main house are also covered in the movie star's own technicolor paintings and the lawn also features a sculpture by Carrey titled “Ayla,” a depiction of a nude woman looking through a picture frame. The art and movie memorabilia, however, is not for sale with the house.
