| Hello Google Play Developer, |
| You are receiving this email because you make your app on Google Play available to users in Australia. We’re writing to inform you about important upcoming changes affecting your app on Google Play. Starting 16 December 2023, new mandatory regulations known as the Australian Online Safety Industry Codes (Class 1A and Class 1B) will come into effect (“Online Safety Industry Codes”). These codes apply to social media, hosting, app distribution, and internet carriage services. A separate code for Internet Search Engines will come into effect on 12 March 2024.

| What does this mean for you?
|
- Compliance with minimum obligations in dealing with Class 1A and 1B material: These codes set minimum standards for handling harmful online material, including child sexual exploitation material, terrorism content, and other serious issues. You are responsible for ensuring your app complies with these obligations, including, by not hosting, distributing or promoting such material.
- Understanding your app's scope: Not all apps fall within the scope of these codes. Visit the eSafety website (https://www.esafety.gov.au/industry/codes) to find out whether your app is affected and for detailed information on the requirements.
