Policy deadlines and reminders
Starting May 27, 2026:
Account Transfer: To ensure a safe and trusted ecosystem, we're introducing a new Account Transfer policy to require developers to use the official "Transfer ownership" workflow within the Play Console. If eligible, use this process to transfer your developer account.
Starting October 28, 2026:
Contacts permissions: Developers must use the Android Contact Picker for apps that do not require broad contact access. This more secure, easy-to-integrate alternative minimizes data collection and improves user safety.
Location permissions: To better protect user privacy, the location button is now the recommended minimum scope for apps requiring precise location. This update aligns with our sensitive permissions requirements and data minimization standards.
